Exciting changes are coming to Seatack Park!

Exciting changes are coming to Seatack Park!
The Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation Planning, Design, and Development team has worked closely with the Seatack community over several months to create a visionary new design—one that honors the park’s deep-rooted history and significance while introducing thoughtful, community-driven enhancements. These exciting improvements will be backed by a $3.2 million community investment supporting this historic park.
The redesigned park will feature a spacious pavilion shelter to support large gatherings, along with a smaller shelter offering a cozy retreat for intimate events and parents supervising their little ones on the brand-new playground. A new 55-space parking lot, complete with a convenient drop-off loop, will accommodate the park’s frequent celebrations and events.
Adding to its recreational appeal, the new design will include two basketball courts, expanding the current offerings. A scenic walking trail will weave through the park’s amenities, seamlessly connecting to the existing South Birdneck Trail along Birdneck Road. We're adding a prefabricated restroom building to this project — helping cut costs while still providing the same great amenities. Smart solutions, same convenience! Stay tuned for more updates.
As a tribute to Seatack’s rich history, two educational signs will be installed—one highlighting the broader history of the Seatack area and another dedicated to the legacy of African American baseball at Seatack Park.
To keep the community informed and excited about these improvements, detailed renderings have been created showcasing the park’s future transformation. While the play equipment featured in these images is illustrative, the Parks and Recreation team will finalize selections closer to construction, ensuring the latest innovations in fun and accessibility are incorporated.
Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation extends its deepest appreciation to the Seatack community for its invaluable input, stories, and spirit, each playing a vital role in shaping this exciting new chapter for Seatack Park.

Expect approved site plan documents in 18 months, and construction is expected to last 15 months.
