Lake Lawson/Smith Natural area is a 42 acre, wooded preserve with over 1.5 miles of soft trails. With 12,000 feet of shoreline on the freshwater lakes, it’s also a popular fishing and birding spot, and several fishing decks are available throughout the park.
A boat ramp and ADA kayak launch provide access to the lake, and kayak 'vending machine' is open during the summer for hourly kayak rentals.
Kayak rentals are now available at Lake Lawson/Lake Smith! Our self-service kiosks function like vending machines—simply scan the QR code with your smartphone, download the app, and follow the prompts to rent a kayak or purchase an unlimited rental membership!
Each kayak comes equipped with a paddle and a personal flotation device, so all you need to bring is sunscreen and water. It's a fun and convenient way to explore our beautiful waterways! Please note that rentals are for individuals 18 and older.
The large picnic shelter, which can accommodate up to 100 people, is available to rent. Please call 757-385-PARK (7275) for reservations.
The shelter includes 14 tables, a grill and is close to bathrooms and walking paths. No food trucks or amplified music are permitted with rentals.
