The Virginia Beach Youth Opportunities Office (YOO) was established in May 1998 through a collaborative effort of the City of Virginia Beach and the Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
The mission of the Youth Opportunities Office is to promote positive youth development for all Virginia Beach youth from birth to 21 years of age through Collaboration and Partnerships, Education and Training, Awareness, Youth Civic Engagement, and Community Involvement and Investment.
The Youth Opportunities Office connects residents to programs and opportunities for young people. The YOO will assist agencies and community groups with developing youth as leaders as they work in partnership with adults.
The YOO works closely with the Youth Opportunities Team (YOT), a network of youth-serving agencies and advocates, and with the community to sustain a collaborative approach to creating and expanding opportunities that are meaningful, available, and accessible to ALL Virginia Beach youth.
Our goal is to achieve the community’s vision for youth - “All our children are well.” As our community strives to achieve positive outcomes for all Virginia Beach youth, our team is committed to maintaining an emphasis on those who are most at risk.
Partnerships create synergy! It's possible to achieve much more working together than working independently. Our team may be able to connect you to other organizations or people that are doing the same or similar things as you.
