These programs operate annually from September – August each year at our Bow Creek, Kempsville, Princess Anne & Williams Farm Recreation Centers. A Parks & Recreation Reduced Fee is applicable to these programs. 

Our highly trained staff use the comprehensive and innovative Frog Street Curriculum to provide intentional instruction in key areas of development so your child can effectively continue on the path to Kindergarten readiness in a safe environment. Key components include:

  • Language, literacy, and math activities
  • Daily interactive hands-on exploration activities
  • Pre-reading and listening comprehension development
  • Moving and learning activities and games to support physical development skills
  • Integrated STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) activities to promote problem-solving
  • Social Emotional Development using Conscious Discipline® teaches your child how to solve problems, identify and manage their emotions and how to self-regulate

Children must meet the age requirements and be fully potty-trained to register and attend. Diapers and/or pull-ups are not permitted. Fully potty-trained includes the ability to:

  • Recognize and communicate the need to use the restroom
  • Go without prompting and use the restroom unassisted (wiping, flushing, etc.)
  • Undress and dress (staff is only able to offer limited assistance i.e., snapping buttons.)
