The Teen Media Studio focuses on introducing and encouraging teens in the field of digital media by providing hands-on opportunities to learn and explore different media platforms, through the use of technologies such as computers, digital cameras, filming, green screen, photography, music, and video production.
The studio is currently working on a special project in collaboration with the Out-Of-School Time Programs Unit (OST) to develop a video of their Safety Camp program. Safety Camp serves 140 Virginia Beach City Public School third graders during spring break, educating them on how to identify and use proper safety precautions to avoid potentially dangerous situations.
The project will consist of creating a video of the week-long camp by covering all aspects of the program that includes interviewing sponsors, parents, youth participants, instructors, and even city leaders. The video will cover footage of the educational and recreational activities and the graduation ceremony, as well as off-site field trips to the Fire Department Training Center, Police Department Special Operations Center, and First Landing State Park. This is a great opportunity for teens interested in the digital media field to get involved in their community.
